Today’s Transfer Talk: Sylvinho, Lescott, Chamakh..Who’s In Who’s Out?

August 24, 2009

wdkfsylvinhocityAnother signing for Citeh: Sylvinho comes to Eastlands.

Well, let’s start with what we know is true, because in the world of transfer, it’s all lies lies lies until there’s ink on paper.

Manchester City- Joleon Lescott has passed his physical and coming on the heels of another 24 million spent, Citeh pick up Brazilian left back Sylvinho fresh from release from Barcelona.  This will be Sylvinho’s second stint in the Premiership, as he played for Arsenal from 1999-2001.  The contract extends for 1 year only, which may be wise considering Sylvie-Fox is 35.

Fulham- Jonathon Greening has officially been released and is en route to the Hawthorns.  West Brom has Greening on loan for now but a permanent transfer should be forthcoming.

West Ham- The Hammers are dotting their i’s and crossing their t’s in a campaign to bring Morocco International Marouane Chamakh to Upton Park from French Club Bordeaux.  The striker’s services will cost Gianfranco Zola a reported £7m.  The 25 year old contributed to Bordeaux’s League title with 14 nets.

Portsmouth- Aruna Didane has seen a pass from his medical which should put him at Fratton Park shortly.  The Ivory Coast International passed on a two year contract offer from Fulham earlier in the transfer season.  The 28 year old striker was brought in from RC Lens in attempts to fill gaps left by Peter Crouch’s departure.

Annnnd some gossip:

Tottenham- Harry Houdini is said to be making a play for Honduran Osman Chavez.  The 25 year old is currently with Honduran club Platense, and would be brought to White Hart Lane to help new signing Sebastien Bassong hold things together until injured players Dawson and Woodgate return.
Truth-o-meter?  Looking likely.  Chavez’s representative has confirmed interest.

Did I miss anybody?

Can’t see the point of signing Sylvinho – sure he was free, I personally think he’s too old to perform in the Premier League. Surely Lescott could cover at left-back?

He will probably just be cover for Wayne Bridge at left back but I would put some money on him eventually getting a first team place once Sparky finally realizes what a waste of money signing Bridge was :P
