Robben Purchase leads to Speculation of Ribery Sale

August 28, 2009

FranckRiberyAwwww. But you know what? There’s something quite lovable about Francko.
Similar to the way there was something quite lovable about Nobby Stiles.
Both damn good footballers as well.

So Arjen Robben has been sold to Bayern Munich as we reported on rumor earlier in the day.

And this purchase has led to widespread speculation that the German club must have a large bank roll coming their way, most likely in the form of a bid for Franck Ribery.

But who would even be in the race to make such an offer, as Ribery is said to be able to fetch sums upwards of 40 million GBP?

How about a West London club with a very wealthy Russian owner and a vocalized desire to sign a world class footballer before the transfer window finally closes in 6 days?

We all know Roman likes a bit of flash and a 40 million jewel of French football would be a nice gem to add to his collection, no?

Ribery is reported to have said he wanted a transfer to Real Madrid earlier in the summer, and as recently as today rumors persist that the Frenchman will be heading to the Bernabeu.

So who will it be?  Will he even go at all?  Do Real Madrid even need another Winger?

Well, if it is Chelsea, good thing Special One has moved on or a Ramadan practicing Francky may have had a few weeks of debut on a bench.

Yeah, Chelsea could make an effort to sign him, but no, they won’t. If Real Madrid sold Robben and Sneijder, you can be sure that they did that because the French guy will arrive at Bernabéu Stadium in the next few days. That’s what I think, at least.

And yeah, Real needs another winger since they’ve just lost the Dutch man.

that was my first thought, especially with that quote robben left with the reporters at the airport – bayern and real in not-so-secret ribery deal.

still doubt that ribery will join real madrid this season, maybe next summer.

There may be indeed an exchange between the 2 teams, of course Real will have to add some money in the deal for Ribery to come

Maybe, but imagine for a minute the kind of team Bayern will have with Robben on one wing and Ribery on the other.

    Bayern = win.

that would be crazy, and both are the hungry-type of wingers.

As much as I would love to see Ribery come to the Premier League, I just can’t see it happening!

Bit controversial this but i cant understand how someone who is proven in only France and Germany could command a fee in the region of 40 million. Transfer fees have got ridiculous.

Ronaldo was worth every penny as his marketability will pay for his teammates and his salary, not to mention the fact that hes proven it in the best league in the world.

Not too sure Ribery has a similar appeal.

it was reported that they rejected a mahoosive offer from man utd (63 mill??) but on a player who quite possibly might not cut it in England is too big a gamble.

Juan Seba Veron (had him on the back of my Man Utd shirt)
top player, tore up the Serie A – huge flop in Premier League matches (but often MOTM in Europe)
