arsene wenger on the stands

August 29, 2009

Arsene Wenger is my hero of the day.

Yep, I said it. I, a Manchester United fan, hearts Arsene Wenger. Who knew he had a sense of humour?

The Arsenal manager was sent off by referee Mike Dean after he kicked a water bottle in protest over Robin van Persie’s disallowed goal in injury-time in the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford. Wenger then proceeded to go behind the dug-out and stood with the fans with his hands stretched out looking at the referee, before being escorted to the tunnel by a steward. Brilliant.

Ahh, they need to put that on a t-shirt.

Oh ya, one more thing. Arsenal should have gotten a penalty for that tackle on Andrey Arshavin by Darren Fletcher. Sure, he got the ball but not before he got the player. What?

Correct penalty call. Correct Eboue diving call.
    Fair dues.
Good play from Arsenal but result could have gone either way.

The best part about Voyeur was the Jeebus crucifixion pose. So dramatic.

    And may I say…..
There’s only one Diaby. Only one Diaby! There’s only one Diiiiiaaaaabbbyyyy!
    Brilliant.

Wenger was frustrated. Only the Arsenal manager and Mourinho who are brave enough to do that sort of thing.

maybe, but doubt you could say that about wenger before last night’s game. and i dont think its a matter of bravery, just a tongue in cheek moment really.

mourinho would do it just for the sake of doing it.

Arsenal were reaaalllly unlucky not to have won the game. They totally and utterly outplayed the so called champions on their own pitch and even the most biased United fan can’t deny that. The penalty call was also very harsh as Rooney had absolutely no chance of reaching that ball, he literally kicked the ball into the stands and waited for contact from Almunia. During the course of the game Man Utd didn’t create not even 1 decent goal scoring opportunity but still managed to score twice all be it a pen and og. I’m telling you now that if United continue to play the way they are there is no chance in hell that they will win the league this season. There were much more positives to come out of the game for the Arsenal given they’re magnificent performance even without they’re best player and skipper.

Rooney dived for the penalty. Check it from the rear angle. He toe ends the ball past the keeper (and it’s going into touch) and then starts to fall over before the keeper makes contact with him.

Arsenal were the better team. Fletcher’s slide was a definite penalty. But so was Rooney’s. Why Almunia commited himself so early I’ll never know. However, this is the type of call that evens out over the course of the season. Half the time it works for you, half the time it doesn’t.

Now go back a few days before. Wasn’t there a penalty given to Arsenal in the CL against Celtic that shouldn’t have been given?

I guess you could say its been evened out.

haha, if youre unsure of what to write about. love to hear what you think of tottenham’s excellent start to the season, as you are a spurs fan.

    Rooney dived. Check this out:

He’s on the way to the ground way before contact with the keeper. It’s even clearer from the reverse angle (I’m Spurs fan by the way – so it pains me to lend any form of support to the Arse!).

I was left thinking ‘What’s he doing up there’ while watching the scene on tv, and he may have a good sense of humour and the United fans were celebrating already else he could have been hit, something dangerous for a manager to do when away from home

thats true, i was hoping someone in the stands wont do anything stupid. fortunately no one did.

the truth is arsenal dont like it up them…the whole world is against them all of the time..it has nothing to do with them being bottlers. Poor Wengerboys

How anyone can think that Darren Fletcher hacking down Arshavin two-footed in the area, whilst at the same time knocking the ball away from Arshavin WITH HIS HANDS shouldn’t have been a penalty is deluded. I know there are some blinkered ‘mancs’ out there but that’s just bloody ridiculous.

Also, the FA are going to apologise to Wenger. And rightly so. Mike Dean should have to apologise as well.
