John Terry has signed a new five-year contract that will see him spend the rest of his career at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea captain was linked with a big money move to Manchester City this summer which prompted Roman Abramovich to negotiate new terms with the defender. But Terry insisted that he never intended to leave Stamford Bridge for the Eastlands – despite claims by his agents that Terry was interested in talking to City in making him the highest-paid player in the world at £250,000-a-week.
Terry is now on £160,000-a-week, making him the highest-paid player in Chelsea with Frank Lampard coming in second with £150,000-a-week.
So he turned down City’s £250,000 to stay at Chelsea on £160,000. That’s loyalty there. And that’s sarcasm.
