Deadly Duo Franck & Arjen

Now that the transfer window has closed in the footballing world, I can not think of any move in German football that has gotten me more excited than the transfer of Arjen Robben from Real Madrid to FC Bayern München.

Other than being the “biggest” club in Germany, I never really had a good reason to watch FC Bayern. Much like the rest of the country, I followed the club simply because they carried the flag when it came to international football for both club and country. The sudden transfer of the Dutch ace to Germany’s favorite club to hate brings us one of the best wing duo in world football, on paper at least. But if last weekend was any indicator, football fans here and around the world will be in for a treat!

Arjen Robben is one of the top playmakers in the game today(barring injuries of course) and his style of play is well complimented by Ribery’s own sublime skills. Can you imagine if the Bavarian club can keep these two together for a few years? We’ll surely get a ton of magical moments we might not see again from two top wingers playing in the same club for a while. Mind you, Robben and Ribery are only 25 and 26 years old respectively… don’t let their looks decieve you!

Robben made his dream debut for FC Bayern after coming of the bench and sticking in two goals in quick succession with the assistance of his new superstar teammate Ribery. The duo cut through the German champions’ defence with such ease that they made it look like childsplay.

This partnership might not last another year past this season with talks of the Frenchman moving to other super clubs in Europe, particularly gazillionaires Real Madrid. That might be the case but I invite everyone to check out highlights from these two in the coming months as I guarantee you that we’ll be seeing magic week in and week out from FC Bayern’s maestro duo…

’till then!

Dear Ms. Hänsel

As a Manchester United fan im jealous of Robery (Ribery + Robben)… They look like they will spend the year terrorising the Bundesliga, will be good to see. Nani nor Park cant offer this sort of consistent excitement

It was an excellent signing – no question. Robben tore up La Liga last season and really impressed me (not that means much). Him and Ribery patrolling each wing – can any one really stand in Bayern’s way.
