A free Berba

Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov has confirmed stories about a kidnapping ordeal involving himself that happened about ten years ago in his home country of Bulgaria while at CSKA Sofia…

Berbatov revealed that he was abducted by Bulgarian gangster Georgi Iliev at the age of 18 with the intention to coerce Dimitar to signing for his own club Levski Kjustendil. The CSKA star was grabbed by three henchman right after a training session and was dragged to  meet Iliev. Berbatov was somehow able to get in contact with his father Ivan, a former footballer himself, and was able to intervene in behalf of the future Bulgaria star.

Berbatov might have been a bit slow in establishing himself in the Man Utd first team picture but the man is truly one interesting character. I am always intrigued by players such as him, the queit ones seems to always have the most interesting life outside of the sport. I can’t wait for the next installment of this enigmatic footballer’s life!

Blimey. Calling himself a failure AND revealing he was kidnapped when he was 18. Got out on the wrong side of bed this week?
