Bundesliga Round 8 Preview

Podolski Returns to the Allianz
Preview of this weekend’s important Bundesliga fixtures!
FC Bayern München v FC Köln – This Saturday’s bundesliga clash between Munich and Cologne should be an interesting one. Former FC Bayern striker Lukas Podolski will make his return to the Allianz Arena after his summer sale to FC Köln. Podolski spent three years in Munich but were unable to secure a regular first team job. The German national team player did better for the “Schwarz und Weiß” scoring 34 goals in 66 appearances compared to his very mediocre 15 goals in 72 appearances for the Bavarian club.
FC Bayern will want to do much better this weekend after a string of terrible performances against Hamburg losing 1-0 and the nil nil draw with Juventus this past Wednesday in the Champions League. To top their misseries, FC Bayern are also without star wingers Arjen Robben who suffered a surgery requiring injury and Franck Ribery who reinjured his knee during the Champions League tie.
Borussia Mönchengladbach v Borussia Dortmund – Saturday’s late match between the two Borussias should provide a rather entertaining match. The two clubs are in desperate need of three points as they continue to struggle in this year’s competition. Both sets of staff knows the importance of this derby as it will not only bring bragging rights but crucial points and momentum lacking so far.
Vfb Stuttgart v Werder Bremen - Stuttgart manager Markus Babbel gave his players a much needed rest yesterday as they prepare to host Werder Bremen at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. The Stuttgart side drew 1-1 against Romania’s Urinea in Tuesday’s Champions League clash and will be without Lanig and Hleb once again. 11th place Stuttgart will want to step up play against 5th place Bremen if they want a shot at challenging for this year’s Bundesliga title.
