Edu reveals he was victim of racism on Twitter

Racism is a disgusting thing, whether in Football or outside of Football. It seems all the more personal and horrifying when a guy reveals he’s been a victim of racism on a social networking site. It really brings it to life.

Maurice Edu, Rangers and USMNT, revealed that he was subject of some racial abuse from his own fans following last night’s dismal 4-1 defeat at Ibrox to Romanian outfit Unirea Urziceni in the Champions League.

His Twitter feed said:

Not sure what hurt more: Result last night or being racially abused by a couple of our own fans as I’m getting into my car.

If this is true, it’s horrible. What sort of people are these, that they’d racially abuse anyone, regardless of whether they play for the team they support? Action needs to be taken against these cretins.

Lifetime bans plus points deductions in Europe and Domestic league. But UEFA hasn’t got the balls to do that…

Yep. You’re quite right. It’s a disgrace how UEFA doesn’t act on stuff like this. These people are animals.

The club would impose lifetime bans… Is just unfortunate in this case that it was outwith the stadium so they won’t be able to identify the mindless idiots in question.

Ridiculous. There will always be ugly people. I just hope Maurice Edu or anyone else who has been treated in this disgusting manner has the strength to continue living their life and knowing they are absolutely above it.

    Ban the buggers for life.

These racists are just low life.

An old Australian saying goes: “He’s such a low-life he could parachute out of a snake’s arse”.
