German Stopper Robert Enke Dead at 32

Top German goalkeeper Robert Enke has passed away this afternoon at the age of 32. The Hannover number one has just returned to practice after battling with a minor intestinal disease.
The former Barcelona and Benfica stopper has been tipped to be a sure shot for one of the goalkeeping spots for the Nationalmannschaft in next year’s FIFA World Cup. Enke was married to Teresa Enke and had a daughter who passed away at two years old due to a heart defect.
German police has indicated that Enke died in a train accident while in Neustadt am Rubenberge. News agency Morgenpost quoted the Hannover police saying that “Enke has thrown himself under the train at Neustadt Rubenberge”. Police however did not confirm that his death was a suicide. More to follow on this story in the coming days…

Reports are that it is almost definitely suicide.
This is incredibly sad news. RIP
My thoughts go out to his family, especially his wife. Their daughter died when she was two years old due to a heart defect. I think they adopted another girl this year.
So very sad. RIP
What a waste !!!! Suicide is not an honorable way to end one’s life… Such a shame…. If he had psycological issue he should pitch his tent with a psycologist to trash out issues instead of causing untold hardship to his grieving wife….
what a stupid time to make this comment. Idiot.
You are a suicidal comrade too i guess you filthy low life….
Such a shame, he was in with a good shout as the German no.1 for the world cup finals next year. Gra ar na clann.
I’ve just read this on the Mail, How tragic!
The player’s friend and consultant Joerg Neblung told reporters: ‘I can confirm this is a case of suicide. He took his own life just before six (pm). There will be a press conference tomorrow with more details.’

R.I.P Robert
A huge loss for German footy, one of England’s traditional old rivals, those enmities mean nothing now though. With luck his family, friends and colleagues can find the strength to cope well with their grief. R.I.P. Robert.
R.I.P Enke, the football world will always remember you
wife’s name: Teresa Enke!
