Peterborough sack Darren Ferguson

According to reports Peterborough have sacked Darren Ferguson. We all know that managers jobs are hardly safe these days but I think this could be one of the worst football sackings I’ve seen, unless of course there is more to come out from it – but I doubt it. I don’t think Barry Fry (Posh’s Director of Football) has thought this one through.
It is believed that Ferguson has been relieved of his duties following the weekend’s defeat with Newcastle United on Saturday that left Posh at the bottom of the Championship and four points adrift of safety after 16 games. Ferguson admitted after the game
“Let’s be honest and say we were out-played, but we were in League Two two years ago and were up against an ex-Premier League team who will probably be promoted as champions at the end of the season.”
The club are remaining quiet on the matter with rumours that they just need to tie up any financial settlements to Ferguson as he only just signed a new four year deal in the Summer. To me he seemed to be a good manager and the fans seemed happy with him. I thought Posh avoiding relegation would be seen as a fantastic season as he had led them to two successive promotions.
Peter Taylor is being talked about as the successor to Ferguson whereas he is now linked with Phil Brown’s job at Hull.
I wonder what Sir Alex will make of the decision…
UPDATED: Barry Fry has confirmed Darren Ferguson’s departure as manager.

Sacked or not, probably so, Darren Ferguson will do a job at his next club no doubt.
Has motor mouth Barry Fry ever thought much through?
Nope!
Without doubt the most bizarre sacking in football for a long time. Fergie Jr has taken Peterborough from a team in the bottom erung of English football to a Championship team with little funds and alot of pluck. He will walk into the next job with ease…could be the best thing for his career..it was only 3 months ago that they were talkng about him as a Prem manager. Barry Fry must be an idiot…but we already knew that.
Updated the end of the post as Barry Fry has now confirmed that he has indeed been sacked
Barry Fry is Phil Brown in the chairman’s seat…. WAIT THAT WILL BE A PERFECT COMBO!
*edit* Director of Football… whatevs
